Thanks to the overwhelming love and support extended by numerous individuals, the remarkable team from Baja Christian Ministry, and the unwavering dedication of those who joined us on this journey, we were able to bestow a life-changing gift upon a single mother and her three children (aged 18, 14, and 11) in Mexico. Together, we devoted two full days to constructing a home that would provide solace and security for this family of four, complete with a latrine to meet their basic sanitation needs. This new dwelling represented a tremendous improvement from the limited 8×10 shelter they previously called home, where a wooden slab served as their bed.
In addition to the sturdy structure we built, we also presented the family with a furniture package that included four comfortable beds, a refrigerator, an oven, and a dining room table. Recognizing the importance of creating a warm and inviting environment, the compassionate women on our team went above and beyond, personally purchasing sheets, comforters, and pillows to ensure the family’s newfound abode was truly a home in every sense of the word. The gratitude and emotions expressed by the family are indescribable. Witnessing the mother’s face light up with relief and amazement as she realized her family would finally have a safe and spacious roof over their heads, as well as comfortable beds to rest upon, conveyed more than words ever could.
Each member of our small yet mighty team—Jay Hultberg, Vickie Hultberg, Dan DiFolco, Alicia DiFolco, and Brenner Milburn—undoubtedly experienced profound personal growth throughout this endeavor. The encounters with the incredible individuals we encountered, and particularly with this endearing family, left an indelible mark on our hearts and souls. We were humbled by the experience, pushed beyond our limits, and ultimately emerged as changed individuals, forever grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Through the combined efforts of our generous supporters, the unwavering dedication of the Baja Christian Ministry team, and the selflessness of our team members, we not only built a physical structure but also laid the foundation for hope, resilience, and a brighter future. The impact of this collective effort will be felt for generations to come, inspiring others to join hands and extend compassion to those who need it most.
